TURNER BMWS MAKE RETURN IN TOURING CAR CLASS AT LIME ROCK PARK.

Amesbury, MA. — May 23rd, 2017 — Two Turner Motorsport BMW M235iR touring cars are set to make their debut at the team’s home track to return back to their roots in the Touring Car Class for the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Lime Rock Park this Friday and Saturday.

The blue and yellow M235iR racecars will go to battle in two forty-minute sprint races to take place on the 1.5 mile, 7-turn road course in the TC class stacking up against a record fifteen BMW M235iRs as well as cars from several other manufacturers.

This race will mark Turner Motorsport’s return to the annual Memorial Day Weekend race for the first time in three years. It will also mark the return of team owner and driver, Will Turner back behind the wheel of the No. 95 BMW.

This weekend’s two sprint races will mark Will Turner’s 120th and 121st professional races behind the wheel of a BMW. Turner’s last full time season was in 2009 and in 2006 he captured a Championship Title with co-driver Don Salama.

In anticipation for this weekend’s races Will Turner and team tested both the No. 95 and No. 96 BMWs at Lime Rock several weeks ago.

“I am excited to be back in a racecar this weekend, especially at our home track for Memorial Day,” Will Turner Said. “Besides leading the race team in IMSA, I have been spending a lot of time working on the growing our service and repair shop here in Amesbury, so this will surely be a change of pace. The M235iR is an awesome car to drive – it will be great to be out there with such a large competitive field……kind of like the old days when we had Touring car fields of 50 cars and Auberlen and Salama were my teammates”

“Oh yeah- I am doubling up on my Taco intake pre race,” said Will .

Will Turner will be joined by Turner team veteran Dane Cameron in the No. 96 BMW. Cameron will make his first appearance back behind the wheel of a Turner BMW since his win with co-driver Michael Marsal at Lime Rock Park in 2015.

Cameron’s history with Turner dates back to 2014 when he and co-driver Markus Palttala captured the GTD Championship with their No. 94 Turner BMW Z4.

“Looking forward to this weekend at Lime Rock Park with Turner with the M235iR,” Dane Cameron commented. “The last time I was here with the team, we did very well, pulling out an unexpected win with the No. 97 BMW Z4 in the GTD class. This weekend worked out well since I will also be driving in the GT SprintX races which will give me a ton of track time this weekend so hopefully we are able to pull off some solid results.”

Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car action from Lime Rock Park will begin on Friday, May 26th at 10:35am ET with practice. The first race will begin at 3:00pm on Friday and race two will take place on Saturday, May 17th at 11:00am ET.
