Elkhart Lake, WI. — August 3rd, 2018 — Markus Palttala has been called in to replace BMW ace, Bill Auberlen at Road America for this weekend’s Continental Tire Roadrace Showcase.

Palttala will return to Turner Motorsport for the first time since his recent win at Watkins Glen in the No. 96 BMW M6 GT3 in early July. Paltala will look to add to his already impressive resume with the blue and yellow sharing driving duties with up-and-coming superstart Robby Foley.

Palttala scored a vistory here at Road America in 2014 with co-driver Dane Cameron behind the wheel of their Championship winning BMW Z4.

Bill Auberlen suffered a minor accident during some home repairs yesterday and will miss this weekend’s race at Road America where he was scheduled to drive the Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 with Robby Foley.

“All these years racing cars and I slip off a ladder at home,” Auberlen said. “I’m a little sore and wanted to race, but BMW of North America suggested I sit this one out to be 100 percent ready for the next race at VIR.”

Auberlen is the all-time leader in North American sports car pole positions with 43 and is second in all-time North American sports car victories with 58 – only two behind leader Scott Pruett.
This is only the second race the veteran has missed in his long career. He was sidelined in August 2001 after a crash at Mosport.

The two-hour and forty-minute Continental Tire Road Race Showcase is scheduled for Sunday August 5th at 2:30pm ET with qualifying set to take place on Saturday at 1:25PM ET, broadcast live on The race can be viewed LIVE on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 2:30pm ET on Sunday.
