Amesbury, MA. — May 29th, 2018 — Following the strong performance at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Turner Motorsport team sees a dramatic change in scenery to prepare for round four of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on the 2.35-mile 14-turn street course of Belle Isle located in the heart of the Motorcity.

The No. 96 blue and yellow BMW will see the return of Bill Auberlen joined by Robby Foley who will be making his debut in the Turner Motorsport M6 GT3 and the GTD class of the WeatherTech Championship.

Foley has worked his way up through the ranks racing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup, Pirelli World Challenge TCA as well as in the IMSA Prototype Challenge. Foley is no stranger to racing, beginning his career karting at the age of eight.

“I’m excited to be joining Bill (Auberlen) in the No. 96 Turner Motorsport M6 GT3,” Foley said. “It’s really a dream scenario for me to drive with a guy like Bill who’s had such a successful career, and is a real staple in GT racing.”

Foley added, “I couldn’t be happier to be making my second start in the Weathertech Championship with a team like Turner Motorsport. Their track record speaks for itself and I’m really looking forward to driving for a team with such a storied history. Being from NJ, I can remember growing up watching racing at Limerock and seeing the iconic yellow liveries running upfront and winning races, and on top of that it’s very cool to drive the No. 96 matching the year I was born, 1996.”

Last year, the Turner BMW M6 GT3 was able to capture a strong fourth place finish with drivers Bret Curtis and Jens Klingmann teaming up to make a hard charge from a twelfth-place starting position to just seconds off the podium.

“We tested with Robby and I knew we had to have him in the car,” said Will Turner. “He adapted very quickly to our M6 GT3 and ran very consistently right off the start which was impressive. I am very eager to get him in the car at Detroit paired up with Bill Auberlen, they should be a strong pairing.”

Bill Auberlen will make his return behind the wheel of a Turner BMW in Detroit for the first time since 2013 where he drove the No. 94 Riley Chassis M3 GT with co-driver Paul Dalla Lana.

“It’s been a few years since I’ve raced on the streets of Detroit but I’m eager to get back out there in the Turner BMW,” said Bill Auberlen. “We had a good outing at Mid-Ohio with a strong BMW M6 GT3 so hopefully we can carry some of that momentum into this weekend. There is no doubt this is a challenging track and surface so let the work begin.”

The No. 96 BMW M6 GT3 of Auberlen and Foley will take the green flag at 12:30pm ET on Saturday June 2nd for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Presented by Lear and will be televised on live on Fox Sports 2 and the Fox GO App.

On track action will begin Friday at 8:15am ET with first practice followed by GTD qualifying at 5:20pm ET which will be covered LIVE on IMSA TV.
