Amesbury, MA. — March 12th, 2018 — The No. 96 BMW M6 GT3 of Turner Motorsport is race ready following the extended break since the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January to kick off the 2018 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

The Turner BMW will be returning to the iconic blue and yellow livery for round two at Sebring after debuting the team’s fresh LIQUI MOLY livery at Daytona.

The race will mark the 66th annual running of the 12 Hours of Sebring fueled by Fresh from Florida, taking place on the 3.74-mile 17-turn Sebring International Raceway.

In the past, the Turner Motorsport BMWs have experienced strong results in the 12 Hours of Sebring with a second place finish in 2016 in the debut season of the BMW M6 GT3 and a pole position in 2014 with the second ever race in North America for the BMW Z4 GT3.

This year, Don Yount will be paired up with 2014 IMSA GTD Champion, Markus Palttala, who returns behind the wheel of a Turner BMW for the first time since 2016. In addition, Palttala and Yount will be joined by Dillion Machavern who will be making his debut in the blue and yellow.

“The 12 Hours of Sebring is such a cool event for any driver so I am excited to have the oppoutunity to do it with Turner Motorsport,” said Dillon Machavern. “I was at the Turner Motorsport race shop last week to familiarize myself with the car, confirm seat fitment and meet some of the team so I am looking forward to getting on track to turn some laps.”

Machavern comes from an extensive and successful racing background in IMSA as well as Trans-Am, SCCA Majors and Lamborghini Super Trofeo. Most recently, the 23 year old Machavern captured a win in the first race of the 2018 season at Daytona after clinching the 2017 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge GrandSport Driver Championship.

“Round 2 is here and I am excited to get back behind the wheel of our Turner BMW after a solid run in the Rolex 24. Daytona was all about learning the car and getting over the steep learning curve so now I can focus on pushing to improve lap times,” said Don Yount. “Based on past years, the BMW M6 GT3 has been strong here at Sebring so I hope we can put on a good show this weekend and have a chance for a podium result.”

The blue and yellow BMW will compete against the 18-entry GTD field featuring the primary Southwest Funding and Gas Monkey Energy branding and associate sponsors including LIQUI MOLY, H&R Springs, Pagid Racing, Ohlins, Hillard and 1620 Workwear.
