THIRD IN TEAM RANKING
MUNICH (December 7, 2025) – For the second consecutive year, Turner Motorsport’s Justin Rothberg was honored with the BMW M Sports Trophy as the most successful privateer BMW driver in sports car racing competition worldwide, while the team earned third in the team ranking. Team owner Will Turner and BMW Works driver Robby Foley were in attendance to accept the awards.
The BMW M Sports Trophy Awards recognize the performance of privateer drivers and teams representing the BMW brand in various series and championships at renowned events around the world. With over 680 race starts, Turner Motorsport has exclusively raced under the BMW banner since 1998. No stranger to the top step of a podium, Rothberg secured the top driver honor for the second time, joining former drivers Markus Palttala (2014) and Paul Dalla Lana (2011) as the third Turner Motorsport driver to earn the top driver ranking honor. Turner Motorsport was honored with the third-ranking customer race team for the Ultimate Driving Machine.
In driver rankings, Rothberg’s second BMW M Sports Trophy is thanks to an outstanding sophomore season that not only included going back-to-back for the GT World Challenge America Pro-Am title with Foley but also securing the championship in GT America. The 23-year-old continued his development behind the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. He and Foley collected five race wins, complemented by five podium finishes and four poles on their way to capturing the Pro-Am title. The championship battle came down to a stormy Indianapolis 8 Hour race, in which the team placed third in the overall Pro-Am class and first in the Americas to go back-to-back. Rothberg’s GT America season was just as successful, with six race wins, five podium finishes and five poles to secure the championship title in the penultimate race in Indianapolis – a storybook redemption from last year’s second-place finish falling just a point short of the champion.
“Super thrilled to be winning the Sports Trophy again this year,” said Rothberg. “ The BMWs are great race cars, and there’s so many talented drivers, so it’s an accomplishment I’m proud of. It’s a testament to the great work from all the guys at Turner Motorsport: Will Turner for running such a well-oiled machine, Robby Foley for always putting in great drives and giving me the help and advice I need – and my parents for supporting me and putting me in a position to succeed.”
The team accolade comes largely in part to winning the GT World Challenge America Pro-Am and GT America SRO3 championships, the team’s 11th and 12th titles in its 27-year history. The team also celebrated its 30th win in IMSA’s Grand Sport class at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in June, further extending its place as the winningest team in the class in IMSA history. Lastly, strong performances in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, with Jake Walker driving to nine wins, along with a fourth-place finish in GTD in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Foley and Patrick Gallagher capped off an outstanding season.
In IMSA, Walker had a dominant season in the new GTDX class in IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. He raced his No. 6 BMW M4 GT3 to nine wins from pole and a third-place podium finish in his 11 race starts. The 19-year-old’s title chase was only cut short due to an incident in qualifying in Daytona that sent the No. 6 to the garage for the first race of the season. Walker settled for second place in the championship, but his performance was nothing short of championship-caliber.
The team also had success in IMSA’s Michelin Pilot Challenge with a milestone win for the No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 EVO driven by Francis Selldorff and Dillon Machavern. The victory marked the 30th GS win for IMSA’s winningest team in the class. Selldorff and Machavern also had a podium finish in Sebring, and Beltre Curtis podiumed in his debut at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with co-driver Foley to complete the GS season.
Lastly, Foley and Patrick Gallagher were teased with podium finishes at VIRginia International Raceway, Road America and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, finishing in fourth place for three consecutive races. An impressive fifth-place finish in the Rolex 24 At Daytona with the help of Walker and Jens Klingmann marked the team’s career-best finish in its 16 years competing in the historic endurance race, contributing to the team’s fourth-place finish in the GTD championship.
Turner Motorsport fielded additional entries in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge (GTDX and GSX) with Vin Barletta finishing second in the GTDX Bronze Cup championship.
“It was a great season for Turner Motorsport and it’s always an honor to take home a BMW M Sports Trophy at the end of the year,” said team owner Will Turner. “I am so proud of my team, my drivers and thankful BMW Motorsport for making this all possible. I’m not sure we can top starting 83 races this year, but that’s what I said last year, so I’m excited to see what we can do in 2026.”
