Winner, Winner, Taco Dinner! Foley & Gallagher Win in GTD

Elkhart Lake, W.I. (August 4, 2024) – Turner Motorsport scored its first win of the 2024 season at IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America. Starting from fourth, Patrick Gallagher charged into third during the green flag lap and cycled into second after pitting for left side tires and fuel during a caution. The Turner team executed flawlessly to give Robby Foley the jump out of pit lane. Foley managed fuel and made the pass that would ultimately give him the lead.

The No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 parked in victory lane for the first time since Mid-Ohio in 2022, giving the team a long-awaited, well-deserved win. This is Gallagher’s first win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and first with Turner Motorsport, while the victory marks Foley’s eighth in GTD – all with Turner. The win also closes the gap in championship points to only 268 behind the current points leaders.

“The guys executed a great pit stop. We were off-strategy, then on-strategy, and turned out, we were on-strategy. It was a confusing race with fuel saving and pushing, but it was an amazing day,” said Robby Foley.

“Thanks to the Turner team, Will, Matt, Vin, LiquiMoly, and everyone who got us here. These guys are like a family to me so it’s amazing to deliver them a win.”

“Our Belle Haven Investments Liqui-Moly BMW M4 GT3 is finally parked in victory lane. It’s long overdue,” said Patrick Gallagher.

“It means a ton. I couldn’t have done it without the guys and girls at Turner and Robby helping me along. I won some races in Michelin Pilot Challenge, but these races are hard to win. We’ve had things not go our way, but today went our way…I’m really happy for the guys who work on the car. To get a win for them is huge. I’m totally stoked.”

In Saturday’s Michelin Pilot Challenge race, both Turner cars finished inside the top ten. The No. 96. of Robby Foley and Francis Selldorff earned a seventh place finish while the No. 95 of Robert Megennis and Dillon Machavern recorded a ninth-place finish.

Selldorff started the Road America 120 from fifth in the 23-car GS field and quickly picking up two positions, followed by a strong charge forward from fourteenth to eighth by Machavern. A caution prompted the second pit stop for left tires and fuel. Megennis and Foley both kept the pace and made progress after the stop, including a pass in the last corner by the 96 to sit eighth and fourth in points, respectively, with three races to go in the season.
