Patrick Gallagher

“VIR is one of the highlights of the year for everyone. It’s such a driver’s track. Every lap there, you sort of have to put it on the edge in different parts of the track. But also, it’s a unique track to set the car up just because you have all kinds of different corners.

“I think it’s been a very consistent year, sitting in the top five. We haven’t broken through for a win yet, but we’ve kind of always been in the mix where some others have had, let’s say, more up and down years. So, the model for us has always kind of been consistency. I think the last three races; we can turn the wick up a little bit and try to break through for that win. That said we just have to keep it simple and execute well and collect as many points as possible.”

-Robby Foley

Nuggets:

  • VIR will be a GT showdown with only GTD and GTD Pro cars running for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (No GTP or LMP2).
  • The No. 96 sits in third in the points standings but the GTD championship is extremely close coming into this weekend with the top four cars within 45 points of each other. The No. 96 sits just 26 points behind the leader, 2 points behind second, and only has a 19-point lead over fourth.
  • The 23-car field includes 13 in GTD.
  • Turner Motorsport has won at VIR in GTD race twice: 2020 (Auberlen/Foley) and 2014 (Palttala/Cameron).
  • The team has also podiumed at VIR in GTD three times: 2023 – 2nd (Foley/Gallagher), 2017 – 2nd (Klingmann/Krohn), 2011 – 3rd (Auberlen/Dalla Lana/Hand).
