TURNER MOTORSPORT FINISHES SIXTH AT MID-OHIO

NEWTON, NH (June 11, 2024) – Turner Motorsport painted Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course blue and yellow with its four BMW M4 GT4’s and earned a top 10 finish in the feature Four Hour race on Sunday. The No. 95 of Robert Megennis and Dillon Machavern started 12th in the 39-car GS field and proceeded to make its way towards the front. Machavern handed the car off with an hour and 45 minutes to go to Megennis, who continued to make forward progress to take the checkered in sixth.

The No. 97, the third M4 added for the weekend’s Michelin Pilot Challenge headliner, was spun twice over the weekend by Frank DePew. In the end, the 97 logged a 15th place finish. The trio of Matt Dalton, Vin Barletta, and Patrick Gallagher made up seven positions in the special inverted blue-and-yellow-liveried M4.

The No. 96 of Robby Foley and Francis Selldorff were running in the top five with less than an hour to go when Foley suffered contact to the right front of his M4 causing a trip to the garage to repair, ultimately finishing in 20th.

“The team handled running three cars perfectly. We had some bad luck getting spun out (seems like most teams did this weekend) and there was lots of contact and general racing stuff, but my crew managed the three cars awesomely, so hats off to them,” said Team Owner Will Turner. “It wasn’t the result that we wanted, but we pushed hard. Anything can happen in a four hour race, and it did, but it was exciting.”

The Turner team had two entries in the VP Racing SportsCar Challenge. In race one, the No 97 of Vin Barletta started fifth while the No. 96 of Matt Dalton started ninth in the 22-car GSX field. Both Turner cars stayed out of trouble and finished seventh and 10th, respectively.

In race two, Barletta was spun by Depew. The contact in the keyhole forced an early retirement, while Dalton went on to finish ninth in the 40-minute sprint.

The IMSA season continues in Watkins Glen, N.Y, at Watkins Glen International on June 21-23. The No. 95 and No. 96 BMW M4 GT4s will race on Saturday, June 22 in the Michelin Pilot Challenge race with The Esses 120 At The Glen. The No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 will return for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the Six Hours of the Glen on Sunday, June 23.
