INDIANAPOLIS (September 20, 2026) – Turner Motorsport scored the win in the Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Robby Foley and Patrick Gallagher holding on to take the victory by just 0.501 seconds.
Starting position for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race was set by championship points in GTD, leaving Gallagher to take the green flag from second. However, a penalty assessed to the championship leaders allowed the No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 EVO to take the green flag from pole position.
Gallagher battled through the first stint, managing tire wear before handing the Turner BMW to Foley, who conserved energy and dove into pit lane to beat a full course caution with just over an hour remaining. The BMW M Works driver navigated GTD PRO traffic and held on to the lead to earn the team’s first win of the 2026 season and its first at The Brickyard. The win also shrinks the championship points battle to just six points behind the leaders.
The win also comes on the heels of losing Turner Motorsport driver Matt Dalton last month, making the victory extra meaningful.
In Michelin Pilot Challenge, Machavern started the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120 from 17th in GS and quickly moved up two positions, but his progress was delayed by three back-to-back full course cautions. Machavern kept his No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 EVO clean despite the chaos around him and moved into the top 10 before handing his Turner BMW over to Mars, who stayed in the top 10 until the team’s second pit stop.
Mars conserved fuel and managed temps, but a final caution resulted in a one lap shootout. In the final restart, a mechanical issue stopped the No. 95 in its tracks, and Mars had to settle for a frustrating 17th-place result. The team is still in the championship hunt with one race remaining but now sits 40 points behind the leader.
The No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 EVO of Foley and Vin Barletta started from 30th in class. Barletta managed the chaotic opening stint while gaining seven positions. Foley picked up an additional three positions, but an effort to help his teammate in the final restart didn’t go to plan, and Foley finished the day in 23rd.
Both GTD and GS championship battles will come down to the IMSA season finale, September 30 – October 3, at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

“Just the way things work out in racing, sometimes you win, and sometimes you don’t. But we’ve always sort of been there. Patrick and I have finished second together a ridiculous amount of times, but we needed to get that win, and we’ve had good confidence in the team that we can do the job, and everybody’s been firing on all cylinders, and the car’s been good. We’ve made good steps this year. If you look at the past couple years, the 57 has been dominant, so you want to win the championship, you’ve got to win. Hopefully we can take this momentum into Petit.”
