INDIANAPOLIS (September 22, 2024) – Turner Motorsport battled to score two podiums at Indianapolis Motor Speedway taking second place in the Battle on the Bricks and third in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120.
WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – Battle on the Bricks
No. 96 BMW M4 GT3 GTD
Robby Foley, Patrick Gallagher & Jake Walker
Start: P3
Finish: P2
Patrick Gallagher qualified well to start the six-hour battle from third in the 22-car GTD field. An early call for rain tires helped Gallagher leapfrog into second, then to the lead. Jake Walker took over in treacherous conditions, holding his own with the pros in his first stint driving the M4 GT3 in the rain at Indy. Robby Foley passed a championship contender on the restart then went on a tear earning five positions in 15 minutes. He continued to pass in traffic and took the checkered in second. The podium finish gives the No 96 valuable championship points as they chase the championship leader from second going into the final race of the season.
“We had an amazing car today. Our No. 96 M4 GT3 was really fast,” said Robby Foley. “We got shuffled back in the middle of the race with the weather, but Don, as always, was very clever to get us the lap back. We restarted in 11th, and I knew the car was fast, so I just tried to pick each car off one by one and manage the traffic well. We got to third and eventually passed for second in some really tight racing. We made some points on the championship leaders, and we’ll try to take it into Petit and keep the momentum going.”
“So much time and effort has gone into this, and I’m so happy it’s finally paid off,” said Jake Walker, celebrating his first podium in IMSA’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and with Turner Motorsport. “We’ve had so many close results, so being able to go over the finish line in second is awesome. I’m so grateful for Turner and the guys giving us such an amazing car every time we go out. I’m thankful for Robby and Patrick for their guidance and expertise. Now I’m looking forward to Road Atlanta and we’ve got some good momentum now, so we’re looking good.”
Michelin Pilot Challenge – Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120
No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 GS
Robert Megennis & Dillon Machavern
Start: P13
Finish: P3
No. 96 BMW M4 GT4 GS
Robby Foley & Francis Selldorff
Start: P12
Finish: P6
Dillon Machavern and Francis Selldorff worked quickly, moving up four and five positions, respectively, in just 13 laps. After driver changes, Robert Megennis ran as high as fourth and Robby Foley in second before the final pit stop. Megennis made two big passes at the end to finish third. The No. 95 have closed the gap in championship points and go into the final race in third.
